"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." -Coco Chanel

FAT or Fabulous?

Hello my fellow Sophisticates! I am so sorry that I have not written a real heavy duty post in a long time! My life has been absolutely chaotic with school, work, birthdays, and the holidays and I have had absolutely no time to sit down and write anything not involving great American novels or chemistry, so I decided that since I am on break for a little while, I would sit down and write a somewhat heartfelt post about some issues that I have been seeing/facing lately.

For those of you who know me or have seen me in my YouTube videos know that I am not a size 2 model-esque girl. I am a sturdy, curvy, "bigger boned" girl. Yes, I am slightly overweight, but who isn't these days? I am somewhat subconscious of what I put on my body and how other people see me to the point of where I will stop wearing half the clothes in my closet if they cling to me the slightest bit. I understand that this is a problem that I only can fix, but to me, it really isn't a problem at all. It gives me a chance to change things up a bit and create a new image for myself. I know what some of you are probably thinking..."this is unhealthy for you to ignore" or "get off your ass and change yourself so you don't hate what you see in the mirror," regardless of these thoughts, I am comfortable with who I am and how I appear to the people around me.

I have had people in my life constantly calling me "fat" or that "it wouldn't hurt for me to loose a few pounds." It is not only painful to hear these statements, it is gut wrenching when you are actually confident about how you look. It is even more devastatingly painful to know that these people are very close to me and are supposed to be some of my biggest supporters but that they would rather tear others down to make themselves feel better about how they act or look. In the last month, I have confronted these people and put them in my own shoes. Not for revenge, but rather to show them just how ugly they are on the inside when they degrade others. After these people were able to understand the consequences of their actions, we came to an agreement. It was declared that if a person is happy with who they are and what they see in the mirror every day, it shouldn't matter what others have to say or think about you, because only your own opinion should matter. Once we both understood this and left one another alone, it hit me. I am FAT.

Not "obese", not "chubby," not "bigger boned," but FAT. The meaning of this word is not found in any dictionary, but rather in a person's soul. FAT, Fabulous And Thankful. I am FAT! Fabulous and loving every part of myself and Thankful, for the body, mind, and soul I have been given and would not give up in a million years. "Skinny" does not describe a person's soul but rather their body, whereas FAT describes every ounce of a woman (or man's) being. So whether you are a size 12 or a size 2, you can be FAT and happy! Or even FAT and healthy! Do not let anyone else tell you different! And now that the 2015 is just around the corner, be sure that your number one resolution is not "loose weight," "get skinny," or to "change," but rather to learn to love yourself! I can guarantee that it will make for a healthier and happier you! So if you want to change and create a new image for yourself, start with finding ways to make you fall in love with your mind, soul, and body, and remember that you have only been given this one life and this one body. Let's be sure to make the best of this new year and remember that only YOU can make YOU happy!

I hope you all have learned a little thing or two from this post and that you will never give another person the power to change you. Remember, you are all BEAUTIFUL! Just the way you are x

Much Love and Good Luck! x

YouTube Video Frenzy!

Hello everyone! I am so sorry for not writing any blog posts in the past few weeks. School has been absolutely hectic! Thankfully, I found little blurps of time to get a few YouTube videos filmed and uploaded to my channel. YouTube videos are much quicker for me to do than write out lengthy blog posts, so I was able to crank out quite a few videos in the last two weeks. I hope this is also a a better way of you all, my fabulous readers, to see some of the products that I have recently bought/received and am loving. Hope you all enjoy the videos! I will be writing another blog post soon, and hopefully will be filming another video today/tomorrow.

-Until next time! xx

  3. I have OCD when it comes to cleaning and organizing my closet, makeup, jewelry, and accessories, but when it comes to cleaning up my room, dusting, and vacuuming, I'm super lazy and I don't like to do it.
  4. I collect jewelry, sunglasses, and iPhone cases.
  5. Most of my clothes are black or dark colored.
  6. I absolutely hate the combination of vans and boot-cut jeans (I have to wear this outfit combo to chemistry lab once a week :( )

Leibster Award 2014!

I've been nominated for a Leibster Award by the forever fabulous CHiBi CHiC <3 Thank you so much for the nomination!

The Rules:
  1. Post 11 facts about you.
  2. Answer the 11 questions set by the blogger who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 11 blogs with under 200 followers
  4. Link your nominees to the post.
  5. Create 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
  6. Let the nominees chosen know they have been tagged.

11 Facts About Me: The Sophisticated Shopper
  1. I am an eighteen-year-old junior in college, majoring in Wildlife Biology & Restoration Ecology/Pre-Veterinary Medicine (long title, I know, haha.)
  2. I have an obsession with collecting things such as sunglasses, iPhone cases, and my personal favorite, jewelry!
  3. I don't drink coffee, tea, or soda (strange, seeing as I am a constantly tired college student.)
  4. I have a secret to share with you all...I have never been in an actual relationship with a "boyfriend" worthy guy (it might be that I haven't really had time to find love :( )
  5. I have been awarded 4 state and 3 national science and engineering awards (yes, I am a closet nerd.)
  6. I ran into Jack Black 7 times while at Disneyland with my family, and thankfully one of the times, he allowed a picture to be taken with him :)
  7. I secretly wish that I could live a double life; one in my chosen career, and the other a posh, fashion filled life.
  8. I am extremely sarcastic (in person.)
  9. Two people that I dream of meeting are Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey <3
  10. I am a huge animal lover! I at one point had a dog, three rabbits, five goldfish, two African Dwarf frogs, and I leased a horse or two.
  11. I have a phobia of hospitals, shots, large birds, and balloons...(I've had several experiences that can explain these odd phobias haha)
CHiBi CHiC's Questions:

1. Why did you start blogging?

I have always loved fashion and beauty and had always wanted to share my passion with others, unfortunately, most of the people I am around in life don't exactly agree with my passion for fashion or think that it is "stupid" to blog. For me, it is a way of living a fashion filled life without giving up a career that I can make money in (not that I couldn't make money in the fashion industry, I just know that I would not be one of the best of the best that would make it in the industry,) and a way to de-stress and connect with others who share my passion.

2. What's your favorite book?

It is so hard for me to choose one book, so I would definitely have to say my favorite book series is The Luxe Series by Anna Gobersten. I am a huge historical fiction person, so these books tied my love for history, romance, and fashion together and made me obsess over these novels! If you have not read these books, you really should!

3. Are you a crazy cat lover or more of a dog person?

Personally, I don't really like cats. Part of my dislike for cats might be because I am extremely allergic to them. However, I absolutely lovee dogs! In my life time I've had an Old English Sheepdog, named Katie, that lived to be seven-years-old, and a Newfoundland dog, named Max, that lived to be a whopping twelve-and-a-half-years-old!

4. Who is your celebrity crush?

Kellan Lutz! *drools* He is an absolutely beautiful man!!!

5. What is your favorite item of clothing you own and why?

Hmm....at the moment I have a beautiful black, somewhat see through, lacy, chiffon, baby-doll top from Forever21. I just love how beautiful and flowy it is! It's one of those pieces that you can dress up or down for a day at school or a night out with the girls.

6. Have you ever had a beauty or fashion disaster?

YES! It seems that I am always cursed with my sandals snapping where the band is attached to the top of the shoe, and it always tends to happen when I am in public :(

7. What did you want to be as a child in the sense of "When I grow up I want to be..." and did that ever happen?

I wanted to be an Equestrian Veterinarian ever since I was four-years-old! Recently, in the last year, I changed my mind, and I instead want to be a Marine-Mammal Vet or a Zoo Vet. I am currently working towards my dream career and I will hopefully make it as a vet before I turn 25!

8. What item do you not currently own that you would love to have one day?

A Michael Kors black and white Hamilton bag with silver hardware, and a matching wallet of course <3 (a girl can dream...sigh, the life of a poor college student :( )

9. Who is you favorite fictional character?

Alright...no laughing at this...my favorite fictional character is Rosalie Lillian Hale from The Twilight Saga. The Rosalie s a strong, and somewhat sarcastic, independent woman that does not let anyone come close to harming her loved ones or her family...in a way, she and I are somewhat alike.

10. If you could meet anyone, who would it be?

Well...as I probably gave away in my eleven facts about me, I would really like to meet both Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey. They both seem like amazingly talented, down-to-earth women that I would love to have a little chit chat with :)

11. What place would you like to visit where you have yet to visit?

I would absolutley loveee to visit Paris, France! It has always been a dream of mine to breathe in the Parisian air and take in the amazing culture that can be experienced while in France. If I had to choose a place in the country I'm currently in, I would choose New York City, seeing as it is one of the most fashion-forward places in the US :)

Alrighty then! Let's get along to the questions I will be asking my nominees!

My Questions:
1. What one beauty-related item could you not live without?
2. What is your favorite inspirational quote?
3. Who is your fashion inspiration?
4. Which is better: shoes or handbags?
5. Who is your favorite YouTuber?
6. Why did you decide to write your blog?
7. Is there ever a time when you regretted a fashion or beauty trend that you tried? If so, what?
8. What are two things that are on your bucket list?
9. What is your ideal vacation?
10. Would you ever, if you could, change something in your life?
 11. Have you ever met a famous person?

My Nominees!

Haley @ Belle Vie
Lauren @ She .Me. You.
Mel @ Mel Azaro
Stephanie @ Stephanie Manusiwa

Congrats ladies! I can't wait to read your responses! Please make sure to leave a link of your Liebster Award post below in the comments section so that I can check it out!

August Favorites 2014

Hello everyone! I am so sorry about my extended absence! Things have been super hectic in my life lately. I started my junior year of college, and starting the first day of classes, we were thrown assignments, projects, and homework non-stop! And to make things a little bit more stressful, I finally quit my horrid job as a hostess at a local Mexican food restaurant. Unfortunately, this means that I have to pay close attention to my bank account so I don't overspend. On the bright side, I did just get a wonderful tutoring job that pays well and gives me the perfect amount of hours that I need to keep up with my crazy spending habits. Yay!

Well enough about my busy life, let's get on to some of the products I have tried and loved this August! Since August is a stress filled month, most of my products have to deal with relieving and managing stress.

My first favorite of the month is my Klorane Laboratories extra gentle dry shampoo with oat milk. I find when I get super stressed out, and I try to make my hair last two days without washing, it tends to get a tad greasy. Even though the grunge look is back in, I'm not very comfortable with my grown out roots looking shiny and oily while out in public. This travel sized dry shampoo is one of the products I received in my August Ipsy glam bag. I first was a bit weary about getting this product, seeing as I never tried a dry shampoo prior to receiving this sample (not to fret, I did use baby powder to keep me from looking like a grungy mess.) This product absolutely changed my life! Which is probably why I used it all up in the first week of having it...

The next product I fell in love with this month is my Maybelline's Dream Pure BB Cream to help hide and treat stress related acne. It's the first BB cream I have ever tried, and I knew that my acne prone skin should probably use something that is made to help treat the acne and not irritate acne and clog pores. I find that before I started using this product, my makeup would not cover my acne all day and my face would end up looking shiny at the end of a 100 degree day here in AZ. If any of you are looking to try out a new BB cream, I would definitely test this one out!

The second to last product that I would like to share with you all is Wet n Wild's Wild Shine nail polish in the color Caribbean Frost, you might have seen this polish in my dollar store haul. I absolutely LOVE this color! It's a funky blue-green that is the perfect transition color from summer to fall. I find that when I'm paining my nails, I am de-stressing from everything that is going on in my hectic life.

The very last item I HAVE to share with you guys is my new Lilly Pulitzer planner! This is my #1 go to book for school that allows me to manage all of my appointments, assignments, exams, and extracurricular activities and keep me from stressing about a forgotten assignment the night before it is due (I have had wayyyy too many of those forgotten assignments in the past.) This planner is an absolute life saver! If you or anyone you know is looking for the perfect school or life planner, I would definitely recommend checking out the Lily Pulitzer website to find one in a style and size that suits you!

Thank you all for reading my super long post about a few products I tried out during the month of August! If you have any similar favorites, or have some products that you absolutely love and would recommend, please let me know below! I am very curious to see what you all have been loving lately.

Until next time! x

The Loss of a Fellow Fashionista...

Today, September 4th, 2014 the world lost an amazing role-model that dedicated her life to making people laugh, and of course, making the world a little more fashionable. Joan Rivers was a well known comedian, humanitarian, and fashionista that changed the lives of those who met her, who criticized her, and those who watched her successful career unfold from the comfort of their living rooms and family rooms. She has left a great legacy behind her today, and will always be remembered for everything she has done and given to her fans, her foes, and all of us little people in between. I pray that her family and friends will celebrate her life and her accomplishments rather than her hard times, and her untimely passing. As the great Joan Rivers once said, "I enjoy life when things are happening. I don't care if it's good things or bad things. That means you're alive." We should all live by Joan's words of wisdom, never take things for granted and live every day to its fullest. Rest peacefully Joan, we will miss you x

Back to School Haul Video!

Hey everyone! I'm definitely taking advantage of my new YouTube channel by making this school supplies haul a vlog-type video. I figured that it would be easier to describe each of the items and show them all to you at different angles and up close (I also was a bit too lazy to type everything out for you all to read, haha.) If the haul video doesn't do the items justice, just let me know below in the comments section and I will type out the post and include pictures of the items. I hope you all enjoy my haul! x

Purse Haul!

So I asked you all if you were up for yet another haul, and I'm assuming by your great amount of favoriting and re-tweeting my tweet that another haul was welcomed with open arms! Today's haul is about one of my favorite things in the world...purses!!! You may or may not know how crazy obsessed I am with purchasing and collecting different purses, totes, and clutches, but this haul will surely show you the level of obsession I have for purses.

In the last two months I have purchased 5 different bags. 5 PURSES!!! If you think that 5 purses is too many, you would go crazy if you knew how many purses and clutches I own...if you all are really intrigued with my purse collection let me know below or through Twitter and I may even make a post about my entire handbag collection.

So the first two bags I purchased are from Charming Charlie (the most dangerous place in the world for me to visit!) They were both a part of the amazing promotion they had going on in the store to where all of the sale and clearance handbags that were greater than $10, were ONLY $10!!! Ahhh! I absolutely went nuts! The first time I heard about the sale, I was looking around for birthday gifts for my mom when I came across an amazingly beautiful black faux-leather bag that looked like a Michael Kors knock off, and to my surprise it had a clearance sticker on the tag which meant only one thing...IT WAS ONLY $10!! My mom was absolutely thrilled when I gave her the bag for her birthday! It was $10 well spent :) Anywayss, I'm digressing. After I purchased my mom's birthday present and bought her a gift card, we returned on her birthday to let her pick out a few small things for herself. While we were there I picked up these two amazing bags, and both of them were on clearance! Yayy! The turquoise studded bag below, I had my eye on for a few months, but I just wasn't wanting to pay the $39.00 price for it. So when I found it at the sale for only $10, I immediately snatched it up! The other purse I picked up was this brown faux-leather bag with silver hardware. I was really drawn to this bag because of the rare silver-brown combo and because of the shade of brown the faux leather was. It's definitely a purse I will be using throughout the Fall/Winter seasons.

Black Turqoise Studded purse (Charming Charlie)      Orig. $39.00       SALE $10

Brown & Silver Hardware Bag (Charming Charlie)        Orig. $39.00       SALE $7.99

The next bag I purchased was from TJMaxx. This Olivia + Joy coral scaled beauty was screaming my name the minute I walked into the store. I immediately snatched it up and ended up bringing it home. It was originally a $98.00 bag and TJMaxx was selling it for $49.95, but I got it for a whopping $24.95 with a $25 TJMaxx gift card I was given for Easter! Such savingss!!!! I really love this bag because it is a "triple breasted bag," meaning it has 3 large separate compartments for you to store your things in (p.s. the brown Charming Charlie bag is also double breasted.) It also has a handy chain strap attached inside for you to carry the bag on your shoulder when it gets a bit fuller and heavier.

Olivia + Joy Red-Coral Scaled "triple breasted" Handbag (Marshall's)
Orig. $98.00    Marshall's  $49.95

This next amazing little bag I surprisingly found at the restaurant, Cracker Barrel's, souvenir store. I bought this bag because it was an adorable chocolate brown color, it's made from real leather, and the front is designed to look like the stirrup from an English riding saddle. For those of you who didn't know, I used to ride and jump horses for years, and the moment I saw this bag, I just knew that it meant so much to me to be able to have something from my past to carry with me every day.

Cracker Barrel Brown Leather Stirrup Handbag    Orig. $29.95

The last bag that I purchased is actually going to be my new school bag. It is a Steve Madden tote/large handbag from Marshall's. I was so excited when I first saw this bag! The two toned grey colors just popped with the bright silver hardware, and I couldn't resist purchasing yet another Steve Madden product. I am absolutely in love with this bag so far, and I'm sure it will grow on me even more when school starts and I'm carrying it every day.

Steve Madden Two-Toned Grey Tote (Marshall's)   Orig. $98.00   Marshall's $39.95

I hope you all enjoyed seeing my new handbags! Like I said at the beginning of this post, if you are interested in seeing or reading about my entire handbag collection, comment below or send me a tweet @SophisticateKay. I got to show you some of my new favorite bags, why don't you show me yours? Send me a tweet with a picture of your favorite bag! Or tweet me or comment below and tell me what your favorite handbag brand is!

Ulta Haul!

Hello everyone! If you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen a tweet regarding a future haul from my favorite beauty store. Well wait no more, because here comes the haul! Today's haul is from Ulta, the most dangerous beauty store everrrrr! Well... it's only dangerous to my wallet haha. Ulta was having an AMAZING sale last week that I just HAD to take advantage of! All of Ulta's house brand products were EXTREMELY discounted for one week only, so I splurged quite a bit on some of their products, They also had one of the great "$3.50 off of $10 or more purchases" coupon available throughout the week. So without further adue, here we go!

I kinda went crazy and bought a whole bunch of random items! Some of the items were things that I have wanted to try for a while, and others were just items that I splurged on.

The first items I went nuts with purchasing were Ulta's brand of eyeliners. I was so tempted to get one in every color, but then I realized that I wouldn't use a few of their colors because they were either too crazy to wear day-to-day or simply because I didn't like the color of the eyeliner. I bought 12 eyeliners total (three of them I did not show because they were basic black eyeliners that I use daily.  I bought extras of them so I can have a back up stash.) The Ulta brand eyeliners, both the gel and automatic kinds, are normally $8.00 per pencil. During this huge sale, the automatic eyeliners were discounted to just $1.00 each and the gel liner pencils to just $2.00 each!!! CRAZY GOOD DEAL! I would have spent over $96 on eyeliner pencils alone, instead I only spent $16 on the eyeliners! Only $16.00!!! And the deals didn't stop there!

Ulta Eyeliner Pencils from bottom to top:
Golden Eyes (automatic metallic eyeliner)-Gold
Lace (automatic eyeliner)-White
Silver Dust (gel eyeliner)-Silver
Charcoal (automatic eyeliner)-Dark Grey
Black Plum (automatic eyeliner)-Dark Plum
Peacock (gel eyeliner)-Emerald Green
Aqua (gel eyeliner)-Aqua/Teal
Starry Night (gel eyeliner)-Dark Navy Blue

The next three items were items that I had researched a lot prior to purchasing. I love to try out new makeup brands and new items, so I took advantage of the "$3.50 off of $10>" coupon and went out on a whim and purchased these products. The first one is Maybeline's Pure BB Cream in the tone Light (seen in the picture above.) I tried this out for the first time the other day, and I absolutely loved it! It covers the bare face with a light coloration that hides redness and dark spots nicely without leaving a greasy finish. This was actually my first time purchasing a BB cream, and I was very pleased with the overall idea of a BB cream. The other three items that I purchased that were on my wish list were NYX's Lip Primer in Nude and L'Oréal's Voluminous Miss Manga mascara in the color Blackest Black. I'm not too crazy with NYX's lip primer. It makes my lips look really bumpy and dry, and it tends to chap my already chapped lips. I also noticed that it affects the color of the lipstick that I put over it. It tends to lighten the color of the lipstick a bit too much. L'Oréal's Voluminous Miss Manga mascara actually surprised me. I had been hearing mixed messages on the effect of the mascara and the clumpiness of the formula, but I had absolutely no issues. I'm overall pretty satisfied with this mascara. My #1 favorite mascara is still probably Benefit's "They're Real!" mascara from Sephora.

Maybeline's Pure BB Cream (Light) $8.99
NYX Lip Primer (Nude) $6.99
Essence Lash and Eyebrow Gel $2.99

I also took the liberty of purchasing Essence's lash and eyebrow gel mascara to help tame my crazy, curly eyebrows (they are so hard to tame!) I have yet to try this yet, but I will definitely post a review on it soon! The NYC cover stick below is not from Ulta, but I did purchase it from Target on the day I went on this crazy haul and I felt it should be included. I use this cover stick to cover up those large nasty blemishes that I get every so often and the somewhat dark spots that I have from previous blemishes.

NYC Cover Stick (Light) $1.61
L'Oréal Voluminous Miss Manga mascara (Blackest Black) $7.99

Eyeshadows! Who ever has too many potted eye shadows? Not me! haha I purchased three eye shadows from Essence cosmetics and I absolutely love how shiny and pigmented they are! I encourage you all to try out one of their potted eye shadows, you won't regret it!

Eyeshadows from Left (starting at the top) to Right:
Essence eyeshadow (02 Dance all Night)       Orig. $2.49    SALE $1.29
Essence eyeshadow (04 Beach Goddess)       Orig. $2.49    SALE $1.29

If the amount of eyeliners I purchased was overwhelming to you, you might also be overwhelmed by the amount of lipsticks and glosses I purchased for this haul. The majority of the lipsticks are NYX's Matte Lipsticks or Essence's brand of lipstick. They were all pretty affordable, especially since all NYX products were buy one get one 1/2 off that week. My overall impression on the NYX Matte Lipsticks are that they have a great pigmentation to them, they aren't sticky, and they last for a while (if you aren't constantly eating, drinking, or dare I say....kissing haha.) The NYX Butter Gloss I was a little more disappointed with. It was streaky and wet when first applied, but after smacking your lips together the color gets better and less streaky, and your lips feel soft and buttery. The Essence brand lipsticks are very hydrating and sparkly however, you have to apply more than one coat to truly color your lips. I own 3 of their lipsticks so far, and I am pretty satisfied with them.

 Left to Right:
NYX Butter Gloss (Eclair) $4.99
NYX Matte Lipstick (MLS20 Audrey) $5.99
Essence Lipstick (12 Sparkling Miracle) $2.99
NYX Matte Lipstick (MLS11 Tea Rose) $5.99
NYX Matte Lipstick (MLS01 Nude) $5.99
Essence Lipstick (67 Miss Peach) $2.99

I am very sorry for rambling on so long about everything I got! With the rambling aside, I hope you all enjoyed seeing the products I purchased and I hope that you might even gather up the courage to go out and purchase them for yourselves to try out! If you do purchase any of these amazing items, please let me know what YOU think of them either through Twitter or in the comment section below.

Until next time!

Fave Fruity Lip Balms!

I've noticed that during the summer time, my lips tend to get chapped...a LOT! I tried using regular Chapstick and it just wasn't hydrating enough. I then tried using a variety of e.o.s. lip balms, and they made my lips burn even more! So I went on a search for the perfect lip balm. What is a perfect lip balm?" you ask... it is one that tastes as good as it smells, is hydrating and medicating to chapped lips, and my personal favorite, is travel sized in pretty packaging.

After searching for weeks, I found three lip balms that I absolutely LOVE

The first lip balm I purchased was the "Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm" by Rosebud Perfume Company. A fun fact about this company is that all of their lip balms are cruelty free and gluten free! I found this amazing little lip balm at Sephora for the somewhat expensive price of $7.57. It is kind of expensive for a lip balm, but this lip balm is by far the best lip balm I have EVER tried in my 18 years of living!  It smells just like freshly picked strawberry and it feels like silk against your lips! The consistency is a little like Vaseline but more solid. When on your lips, it appears to be sheer with a slight shine. They only complaint I would ever have with this balm is that you have to apply it with your finger, which can be a bit of a bother, but any potted lip balm will make the same small mess. I would rate this lip balm to be a 10/10! So if you are feeling fancy and are looking for the perfect lip balm, go check it out at Sephora! (If you aren't interested in the Strawberry flavor, they also have it in a minty flavor.)

The next balms that I purchased came in a set of two by the brand Absolute New York. This company is also cruelty free and against animal testing (which is HUGE in my book.) The flavors I purchased were "You're the Balm: Grape" and "You're the Balm: Green Apple." I purchased these two potted lip balms from Marshall's for the amazing price of $3.99 (significantly cheaper than the "Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm" and you get two yummy balms for the price of one!) The original retail price on this set is $6.99, which is a great deal even at the retail price. The Grape balm smells and tastes exactly like grape! Which I first thought would be a problem, seeing as I pictured it to taste like cough medicine, but it turned out to taste fantastic! Almost like a grape lollypop! The Green Apple flavor did not really smell like an apple, but it did smell and taste like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher! Yummy! One swipe of these lip balms doesn't cover your lips as well as one swipe of the "Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm," but after two or three coats, they start to work their magic and start to hydrate and smooth your lips. Individually I would rate the Grape balm as a 9/10 and the Green Apple Balm as a 8/10 (probably because of the smell.) As a package I would probably rate this as a 9/10.

Out of these three I am definitely more in love with the "Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm" than the "You're the Balm" lip balms, just because it takes less product to get a better result and it smells true to its label.

Feel free to try out any of these three lip balms and tell me what you think of them! Also, if you have any favorite lip balms and would like to share your favorites with me, please post them below!

Until next post! x

SALE...the Most Dangerous 4 Letter Word

The word SHOP can bring danger to anyone with a bank account and a love of browsing for something new and exciting; but the word SALE brings extreme danger to those with a tendency to shop until they drop or until the funds run low. The Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale did just this to one person in particular...me. Now I know what some of you are thinking. "Do you ever stop shopping?" And the answer is, no. I have no idea what is wrong with me! When I see the words SALE or CLEARANCE, I automatically shut down the logical parts of my brain, and start to see things as "saving money" not "spending money." I find this to be a somewhat healthy habit...only because it is hard for me to justify spending money on full priced items unless I cannot live without that item. Some of you may think I'm crazy, but others may think that it is "genius"... or maybe I'm the only one who thinks that...

Enough about my crazy habits! Let me show you what amazing things I got at the VS Semi-Annual Sale!

I know what you're thinking.... "Really...you went to the sale and that's all that you bought?" My answer is, yes. I actually only wanted to buy the items that screamed out to me and had "screaming" prices.

The first item I purchased was full priced. However, I was able to convince myself to purchase it because I had run out of my old bottle, and because this is my absolute FAVORITE perfume! I have this weird thing against flowery perfumes. They just don't smell right on me. But this MARVELOUS perfume is so fruity and fresh smelling that I can wear it any day to any event! It is definitely my go-to perfume.

Love Spell       Orig. $14.50

The next item is this adorable makeup bag! This bag just called out to me! Even though I already have a few little makeup bags, I decided that this bag was the perfect size to carry in my purse (I always carry a big purse) and it was clear so I could see the products that were inside it without having to dig through the bag and risk breaking the makeup or dirtying the inside of the bag. Plus, it is the perfect shade of pink for summer :)

VS Pink Clear Makeup Bag- Medium (Hot Pink)    Orig. $12.50   SALE $4.50

The next few items I purchased were a few of the VS eyeshadow products. The first item is the leopard eyeshadow pallete. All of the colors inside are nice, neutral colors that work perfectly with my skin tone without making me look too white and shiny. The single pot of eyeshadow I purchased is in a deep purple/wine color. I bought this because it went with a few of the purple shades that were in the pallete it was not a color that I have ever used before.

VS Plums/Greys Palette  Orig. $19.95   SALE $7.50

VS Metallized Eye Shadow- Plum    Orig. $10.50    SALE $5.20

And last, but not least, I purchased a hot pink and red striped VS iPhone 4/4S case to glam up my phone. I really loved this case because it was pretty, protective, and the original VS colors. (P.S. I didn't have a close up picture because it is on my phone at the moment, but if you want to see it close up, comment below!)

I hope you all liked this post about my shopping excursion at Victoria's Secret! If you have any requests of what you would like me to write about next, comment below or tweet me the topic at @SophisticateKay! Thanks for reading!
